Since it is a long weekend and almost the peak season for surfing, most of the hotels, inns and even pension houses are fully booked. I have to really scout the whole internet (yeap that magnitude of searching) to get one. Luckily, there's still a room available at AMCO beach resort. It is not a beach front hotel but have comfortable beds and walking distance from the beach. The room we got is good for 3pax only. But since there were just 4 of us, we opted to add in a mattress. This took up the supposedly space, but if you're not the type who'd stay inside the room the whole time, this shouldn't be something you'd be worrying about.
Long weekend? What a better way to spend it than to go to one of the surfing spots in the Philippines: Baler. For the longest time, learning how to surf is included in my To-Do or To-Experience list and finally this year I was able to check it off the list. The trip was a last minute decision made by my family which proved to be the trickiest part of the tip,

This is a late postMy family went to Pagudpud 3 years ago. That was in November of 2011. Not a peak season. Rainy weather. The reason we went there was because my father and sister was celebrating their birthdays, both born in the month of November. We stayed there from November 4-6. Since our car is not good for long drives, we opted to take the public bus leaving from Manila. I remember that it was a Thursday night that we left for Ilocos. The trip was for about 13hrs in a lazyboy deluxe airconditioned bus. Fares by that time was 250.00 by Florida Bus Station in Sampaloc Manila. We stayed in Villa del Mar in front of the Ivory Beach. The room was big enough for 5 pax with one working CR. The restaurant is does not serve that good food. One of the amenities of the resort was it's swimming pool. But I think since we went there during the low season, maintenance of the resort facilities wasn't that good. There was a little garden at the back of our room and most of the cottages by the beach don't have occupants. We brought spagetti all the way from Manila to "save" us the hasse of buying food on the stop overs. Left over food was then consumed in the beach front. Since the resort's restaurant doesn't serve that good food, we looked around for more pleasant places to eat with. The best restaurant for me to eat out is the Emohrou Beach Resto Bar just a walking distance from Villa del Mar. Their food is yummy specially the famous Vigan longanisa. The restaurant is right in the beach front so you could enjoy the view and the food at the same time. Price is very reasonable. As I've said it was raining when we went there. So from our second day until we went home it was kind of non-sunny-day. Since we are not happy with our choice of resort, we opted to stay most of our time in Evangeline resort which owns/houses the Emohrou resto bar. With them we arranged a van for our day trip around Pagudpud. Though we are just 5, the driver got us a Grandia van. I can stand up inside without touching the van. (See picture above, that's how small I am)
We went to the famous Patapat viaduc, kabigan Falls (with very cold water considering the rain we have to endure), Timangtang Rock, Blue Lagoon (the surfing part of Pagudpud with Hannah resort facing the beach), Bantay Abot (which I had fun walking in and posing, the wind almost knocked me off SERIOUSLY), Agua Grande (the wind is starting to act up) and the Bangui Windmill. We were somewhat lucky to see these windmills in full throttle since the wind is really that strong. Though it might have been a more picture perfect spot if it is sunny. I will be coming back to Pagudpud on a different season and hopefully soon! Let's Travel Pinas! Anna |
ME.When I was a kid, I dreamed of travelling around the world. Now that I'm all grown up, I try to live my life on these two questions: where do you want to go? and how much is your budget? Archives
