My friends and I planned to hike up the Masungi GeoReserve in Baras Rizal and it was one for the books. The height, the silence, the rope works and the perfect company. What more could I ask for? I'll go through all the points that covers our brutally fun and face-your-fears kind of experience.
Fee - At the time we booked our slot, rate was at 1400 per head inclusive of gears, a bag, water bottle each and a light snack at the end of the trail.
Transportation - It is best if you have a private car with you as there is not much public transportation available in the area. We rented a van from Kuya Julio (a family friend of a friend) and got it for 3k all-in
Trail Hike and Environment - The whole place is gorgeous. The abundance of flora and fauna is really mesmerizing. The trail is perfect for beginners but a bit of caution that aching muscle is inevitable after the 4hr hike. Also, this place is not for the faint hearted. We went up to a rope work about 3 floors high without harness and the view is astounding. There are alternate routes but what good is it if you don't get to do everything? J The experience was amazing.
Overall - The price was too much for the overall experience. If it was down to 1k per head, I would delightfully suggest and recommend this to other people. But for those who have extra cash to burn, go for it. If I'm correct, the current rate is at 1700/head for weekdays and 1800/head for weekends. Too much if you ask me.
Have a wonderful travel!
