Camiguin Highland Resort
This place is AWESOME!
That's it. Don't believe me? Read on...
A Background.
Months before our trip, I was already scouting for cheap hotels in CDO and Camiguin. So I searched and searched for the best hotel I can find within our budget. The two 5-star hotels in Camiguin are Bahay Bakasyunan in Camiguin (this place is heavenly!) and the other one is Camiguin Highland Resort.
If you check the rates of Bahay Bakasyunan, it is expensive (for me it is expensive though one might say that it's all worth it). I placed this resort as our back-up plan resort if all else fails. That's when I checked on Camiguin Highland resort.
At first, I was reluctant due to the number of negative feedbacks but I was seriously considering them because they offer a room that can fit 8 pax. What made me more doubtful was the price of rooms. They were way too good to be true. I gambled and stumbled upon a gem in camiguin, atop the hills.
I contacted the hotel and inquired about their dormitory room, as we were 7 in the group originally. They said that they can offer us a deluxe room for the price of the dorm room. This means 500/night/head. I was like,"are you sure?"
I conferred with the team and they agreed on it. We paid the downpayment of 2,000, just to have the room for us. And I hoped and prayed until the day we arrived at the hotel.
ARRIVING
As I've said in my previous post, the trip to the hotel was a mystery for us. We cannot see it facade from afar due to the blackness of the place and the trees covering the view. We only knew that we were at the resort because the paved road stopped there and we turned right.
From there, the only thing running from our minds was that it was the perfect scene of a horror movie. The darkness, the empty hallway, the dog barks, the trees covering the hotel, residence houses far from the resort, unpaved road, on top of a hill. But we were wrong, once we got out of the multicab, we were taken away.
All of the crew there were smiling. They are fun to talk with and they attend to our every need. They do not mind our loudness even if it breaks the silence of the resort. House keeping is done every morning or you can request for it twice a day. Extra pillow was given to us free of charge!
Rooms.
Upon check-in, we were led to our room on the second floor. The room was spacious, even a group of 8 can fit in to our assigned room. The beddings are comfortable, CR is clean and very spacious that even another person can sleep inside it.
For their Deluxe room they have: (this what they gave us)
1 single bed
1 queen sized bed
2 extra mattress
1 mini refrigerator
1 hot water
towels (changed every day)
good working AC
bathtub
All of these we got for......
500 per person per night! That's 1,000 for 2 nights. I can say that it's a bargain considering that we were lucky to have the place almost to ourselves. It's like we rented out the whole resort for 3 days. It's more than what we ask for. As my co-traveller said "The distance from the beach is all worth it"
Food
Their price for food is somewhat high, since we were able to eat at a lesser price at Vjandep restaurant with the same umber of viand and rice. Though both restaurant serves good food.
I suggest that you pre-order your food for about 2-3 hours before your meal time as they cook everything on the spot. Also, bring as much cash as you can upon arriving this resort so that you don't have to resort to your credit cards.
The place
They have a gazebo, big trees where you can do picnics under the shade, a play ground, game hall, dorm rooms, and huge hectare of land. Since this is a province it is not good to roam around past 5:30pm. There are a few things you have to think about.
1. The place is dark at night (pitch black)
2. There are lots of horse shit (literally)
3. Mosquitos
4. The place can be really scary at night
5. You might get lost (Kidding!)
It is best to roam in the morning when you can appreciate everything!
I would certainly come back to this hotel in our future Camiguin trips.
Thank you Camiguin Highland Resort!
